G.B. Postal Use of Self Adhesives

Publisher: House of Antiquity, 1997

Large format (A4) paperback, comb-bound, illustrated, (iv) + 29 pages, a little toning to the front cover else in Very Good condition.

Interesting account of the little-known stamped to order self adhesives issued in the early 1970s. A service had long been available which allowed customers to send envelopes, cards, or labels to HMSO for postage stamp impressions to be printed thereon. Philatelists Derek Worboys and John Daynes placed orders for stamps to be printed on self adhesive labels, thus creating Britain’s first self adhesive stamps. The study also covers the Post Office’s first self adhesive issue of 1993, and other self adhesive labels used for Meter Marks, Special Delivery, etc.
