Victoria: The “Registered” and “Too Late” Stamps 1854-58

Report on a Major Breakthrough
Publisher: The Royal Philatelic Society of Victoria, Melbourne, 1966

Hardback, 80 pages + plates + loose plates in pocket at rear, foot of spine lightly rubbed, light blemish to a few page edges, else in Very Good condition. A nice copy.

Scarce handbook by the great expert on Victorian stamps and postal history. The Victoria “Registered” and “Too Late” stamps were the first to be issued anywhere, and are among the first bi-coloured surface-printed stamps to be issued. The author deals in great detail with the difficult technical aspects of the stamps, and the text is enhanced by ten pages of fine black & white photo-plates which are also reproduced in loose form at the rear of the book.
