First volume of the three volume set by Ted Proud on the postal history and postmarks of the British army. This volume covers the establishment of the Army Postal Service in 1882, the 1882 Egyptian Campaign, the 1885 Sudan Campaign, and (mainly) the Boer War. The Boer War section was co-written by the late Kenneth Griffith, the well-known actor and Boer War collector.
An excellent handbook, drawing on original documents, and very well illustrated with postmark illustrations. A must have book for military postal historians and particularly Boer War collectors.
