Large hardback, black buckram gilt, circa 470 pages, gilt coat of arms on front & rear boards, gilt top-edge, backstrip (spine covering) has been repaired and is still cracking very slightly at the top, front board slightly stained, and rear board rather mottled, some foxing to first & last few leaves, pages clean and crisp, solid binding, in Good condition.

Edward Denny Bacon took ten years arranging and cataloguing the Earl of Crawford’s remarkable library of some 4,500 volumes, and his labours eventually resulted in this monumental work. The “Bible” for collectors of early philatelic literature, it lists almost every book, catalogue, journal, or pamphlet relating to philately to be published anywhere in the world prior to 1912.
