Entwistle, Charles R. - Wartime Airmails - The Locally Registered and Foreign Air Services of British Asia
Publisher: Chavril Press, 2001.
Paperback, 24 pages, slightest hint of a crease to front cover else in VG condition.
Useful booklet looking at Airmail services during World War II. Highlights the routes flown by locally registered Empire carriers within British Asia and those foreign countries that provided services to, from or through the region. It shows how routes were established, amended and abandoned as the ebb and flow of war dictated. A brief summary of the routes flown by B.O.A.C. is provided, followed by details of the services offered by the locally registered companies. This is followed by the services of the foreign countries that operated to or through British Asia. Each country then has a summary of the services available to it, with the final section devoted to notes on the postal history and special services available.

Winters, J.G. - The Postal Commission Stamps of Ceylon 1888-1890
Publisher: The Ceylon Study Circle of Great Britain, 2009.
Large format (A4) paperback, illustrated, 48 pages, slight dusty marks to front cover else in Very Good condition.
An excellent publication on the Ceylon Postal Commission surcharges of 1888-90. Although they were produced essentially for fiscal purposes (to denote the extra commission charged by the Post Office on out-of-date Postal Orders) they were, for a short period of a few months in 1890, allowed to be used on mail. This study looks at the four Postal Commission surcharges, their purpose; their varieties; forgeries, and postal usage. Includes a listing of the stamps, including varieties and forgeries, with a guide to relative scarcity. Very well illustrated in colour.
