A first-rate handbook, similar in style to the Willcocks & Jay British County Catalogues, listing details of all the types of postal markings in use in Scotland before the introduction of adhesive postage stamps in 1840. Very well illustrated with illustrations of the standard types and of the Edinburgh and Glasgow types, and special types; and with maps showing locations of post towns, receiving houses, postal routes, etc. With a price-guide for each mark listed. Substantially larger than the first edition, this is the definitive handbook on the subject.

After a brief historical background to the tax, the booklet lists the use of these marks in Scotland as well as their use in England. With tables listing the types, size, colour, dates of use and rarity. Very well illustrated.
