Tabeart, Colin - United Kingdom Letter Rates Inland and Overseas 1635 to 1900
Tabeart, Colin - United Kingdom Letter Rates
Inland and Overseas 1635 to 1900

Publisher: HH Sales Ltd., Bradford, 2003.
Second edition, paperback, illustrated, viii + 264 pages, some minor marks to the covers, pages clean, previous owner's name to title-page, else in Very Good condition.
In 1989 the first edition of "UK Letter Rates" appeared, the first serious work on the subject, dealing with an awkward void in British postal history which had long needed to be filled. Despite several other books on different aspects of the same subject having been published since, "UK Letter Rates" remains the only book to cover all public UK letter postage rates up to 1900. This second edition was prompted by the continuing demand for the original book, which required the printing of a second impression in 1990 and a third in 2002. A thorough revision of the original text was undertaken, incorporating the 1991 Supplement and a significant amount of new information. It is much larger than the first edition and is far more attractive to the eye and user-friendly. There is much improved tabulation of the complex data, and significantly more covers are illustrated with the rates carefully explained as examples. Long out-of-print and hard to find.
